Llangynidr

The cottage is situated in the beautiful and friendly village of LLangynidr. The village has a shop and garage and two pubs, both of which serve good food and can be walked to from the cottage. The Monmouth canal and the River Usk both flow through the village and provide ideal locations for lovely walks and picnics. The old bridge across the river is said to be one of the first in Wales and is well worth a look.

Great walks begin from the cottage door into the mountains including Tor Y Foel. Pen Y Fan, Corn Dhu and many others a right near by as you head into the Black Mountainsand the Brecon Beacons.

Crickhowell

The pretty and bustling little town of Crickhowell is just 4 miles away. There are lots of great shops, pubs and restaurants to enjoy and it's steeped in history with its castle and the neighbouring Tretower Court and Castle.

Hay on Wye

Bursting with bookshops the beautiful town of Hay on Wye is a favourite destination, just 18 miles away. As well as the famous literary festival the highlights of Hay include some lovely shops cafes and some nice walks around the river.

Other local attractions

Abergavenny is 8 miles away, Brecon 9 miles and Cardiff city just 35 miles away. The Green Man Festival and Crickhowell walking festival are both on the doorstep.

The area is rich with castles including Caerphilly, Tretowe, Castle Coch and Cardiff. The world famous Big Pit National Coal Mininng Museum is just a short drive away. Pony treking is available from a number of local venues.

For foodies there are many great restaurants in the area including three Michelin Star restaurants, The Walnut Tree, The Hardwick and The Whitebrook. There are many local producers of cheese cider whiskey and much more to visit and all come together at the annual Abergavenny Food Festival.
